DISCOURAGEMENT: THE FRUSTRATION OF DESTINY

DISCOURAGEMENT: THE FRUSTRATION OF DESTINY
Job 2:9-13
Thousands of people could not get to their destination due to discouragement received from people around them. Many could not fulfill their destiny or achieve their dreams because they allowed discouragement to rob them.
Discouragement remains one of the viruses that have been killing and robbing people of their goals. What discouragement has done in people’s lives remains the worst stories ever told in history. One word of discouragement can destroy a plan worth ten years. Many have good and godly visions, but they could not accomplish it because of discouragement from things and people around them.

WHAT DISCOURAGEMENT DOES
It frustrates godly purpose
It leads to high blood pressure
It leads to destruction
It damages the heart
It causes protracted infection
It cause doubt/fear
It leads to eternal doom
THREE TYPES OF DISCOURAGEMENT

Personal discouragement:
Personal discouragement is discouragement a man develops within him/herself. Many allow discouragement to take control of their mind, soul and heart. Many have visions, but to take a step of fulfilling the vision is a problem. Whenever they want to take a right step, a spirit of discouragement will spring up and motivate them not to take such step. In their heart, they become discouraged and compare themselves with others, mostly those that have nothing good achieving in life. They see themselves as unable to fulfill good things.
The ten spies in Moses’ day discouraged themselves and they could not get to their promise land. Numbers 13:31-33

Family discouragement:
Many family members are agent of discouragement; they don’t have good words and advices to offer their fellow brother/sister than to discourage them in any steps they take in life.
The brother of David discouraged him not to confront Goliath; instead of encouraging him, they abused him. 1 Samuel 17: 28.
Job’s wife discouraged Job during His trials. She discouraged him into not upholding his integrity. Job 2:9.

Environmental discouragement:
What happens around ones environment is another thing that brings discouragement to people. The actions and reactions of people have caused many to lose hope in God. Instead of been encouraged and motivated in positive ways, the reverse is the case.

Sometimes, people get discouraged when others around them get flourished. The Psalmist says: “But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men” Psalms 73:2-6

People get discouraged when their desires get delayed in fulfillment. Proverbs 13:12
People get discourage when their way get blocked – Numbers 21: 4. “And they journeyed from mount Hur by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.”
One thing I discovered in people is that, everyone likes to get what they want in an easy way. A Person that is going to Lagos from Abuja will like to get there within few hours not ready to pay the price to get there.

WHAT YOU MUST DO ON DAILY BASIS TO AVOID DISCOURAGEMENT

Avoid discouragers:
Discouragers are in everywhere at anytime, but you are the one to disallow them in their mission against you. When they speak, ignore their advice. When they confront you with negative words, challenge them with the living words of God.

Encourage yourself:
Make it your daily responsibility to encourage yourself in the Lord. Meditate in the Scripture; confess the words of life to your spirit being. 1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Corinthians 4:8; 1John 4:4; Job 13:15, 19:25.

Let God hear your voice:
For you to get encourage, praying for God’s Spirit to encourage you.

NB: Expect discouragement from any good step and thing you want to take and get ready to arrest it. 1 Samuel 17:26-30. Expect discouragement from any angle at any time, but get ready to arrest it. Job 2:9-10, 1Samuel 17:32-37
