Topic: Understanding the Weakness of the Enemy
Bible Reading: Job 1:8-12
“Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?'' So Satan answered the Lord and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face! So the Lord said to Satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person. Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.”
One of the reasons why Christian are suffer in the hands of the enemies today is because many Christians do not understand the weakness of the enemy called Satan. As a Christian, you must fully understand the weakness of your enemy. Satan is our number one enemy and we must aware and understand that he has weakness, and it is our responsibility to study his weakness, confront him and war against him.
According to the Scriptures, the Holy Bible, Satan is powerless in the following areas:
Number one: Satan cannot Tempt Believer without approval from God.
Satan has no right or authority to tempt a believer without God’s permission. The above Bible passage tells us the reality of this fact. It should be noted here that in verse 10 Satan actually told the precise truth, for God had indeed made a hedge about Job.
Number Two: Satan cannot stand to be resisted
Another weakness that Satan has is that he cannot stand to be resisted with the name of Jesus, the word of God and the fire of God. “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
But how does one go about resisting the devil? James answers this, by submitting first to God. This means that we must be subject to Him. Ready to listen to God and obey Him; you must humble and repent. We should humble ourselves under the power of the Almighty God. NOT proud and stiff necked in our doings. We must get serious with our Christian lives; equip ourselves with the power of God, word of God and name of Jesus in our mouth. As a Christian, we must lives a holy life and not allow wrath or sin to give room for Satan in our life and environment.
When we actually get serious about these things, then we will be able to resist the devil. "Be angry, and do not sin'': do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.” Ephesians 4:26-27:
The Christian can also successfully resist the devil if he does the following:
Firstly, he must know how the devil attacks. The most important thing that every Christians should know and understand is how Satan attacks through devices ways. Be ignorant to his devices is a great disease that is affecting many believers today. In 2 Corinthians 2:1, Paul warns us that: “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.”
Satan can deceive Christians through dreams, hearing voices, teaching and preaching that is not originated from the truth word of God. Such happened to Paul during his ministry, but thank God that Apostle was sensitive enough to discover the satanic devices that he uses to deceive Paul and his companion.
“And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And she did this many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.” Acts 16:16-18.
Can you see how coning and manipulate the Satan is? He had deceived Paul and his companion for some days before God arrested her. If such can happened to Apostle Paul, I can imagine thousands of so-called believers that have been deceived by the satanic strategies, policies and doctrines.
Secondly, Christian must stand guard and be alert in anticipation of Satan’s attack. In 1 Peter 5:8, the Bible says: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” To be sober means to be serious-minded, to take a realistic approach to life, to be intelligent regarding the strategies of Satan.
Remember that Satan has different poses and he can masquerade at anytime. Sometimes he comes like a snake, seeking to lure people into moral corruption and adultery/fornication. Sometimes, he disguises himself as an angel of light, attempting to deceive people in the spiritual realm with fake miracles and counterfeit doctrines. The Bible make it clear that: he comes as a roaring lion bent on terrorizing God's people through persecution. 1 Peter 5:8. He can come with false messages that were planned from his kingdom, which can eventually derail Christians from the truth.
Thirdly, the believer must have on the proper protection when Satan attacks. As a Christian, we should be sincere with ourselves with what the Bible says. The Bible makes it clear that we shall be confronting by Satan and his agents, and therefore we should be properly protected. The world we are is full of satanic strategies and tactics.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;” Ephesians 6:10-17.
Look at verse 14: Christ is the Truth. John 14:6:- Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Yet another of Satan’s weaknesses is that he cannot stand the blood of Christ, nor the positive testimony of the Christian. "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (Rev. 12:11).
