Parental Responsibility

Parental Responsibility

Bible Verse: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

Exhortation (What, Why, How):

What:
Parental responsibility is the sacred duty given by God to guide, nurture, and discipline children in the fear of the Lord. It is not just about providing food, shelter, and education, but also shaping their spiritual, moral, and character foundation.

Why:
Children are a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3). God entrusts them to parents as stewards. If parents fail in their responsibility, children may grow without direction, and society suffers as a result. Faithful parenting ensures that God’s covenant blessings flow to future generations.

How:
Parents must combine love with discipline, teaching with example, and provision with prayer. They must model godliness, establish family devotion, and instill values of obedience, faith, and integrity. Most importantly, they should depend on the Holy Spirit for wisdom to guide each child according to their unique purpose.

God’s Expectation:

God expects parents to raise children that will honor Him, bless society, and extend His kingdom. Parents are to be diligent, prayerful, and intentional in shaping their children for destiny fulfillment.

Prayer Points:

  1. Lord, give me wisdom and grace to fulfill my parental responsibilities.
  2. Father, help me to be a godly example to my children in words and actions.
  3. My children shall not be victims of parental negligence, in Jesus’ name.
  4. Lord, grant me the strength to discipline in love and not in anger.
  5. Father, may my children grow in the knowledge and fear of You daily.
  6. Lord, I shall not fail in my parental assignment.
  7. Father, let my children bring glory to You and joy to my family.
  8. Lord, let my home be a center of godly upbringing and training.
  9. My children will fulfill destiny and not derail from God’s purpose.
